REGT Garden host Tilly, Talks at ROGI

On Thursday, 14 May, I had the pleasure of speaking to the members and guests of Redlands Organic Growers Inc. I shared my experiences as a small‑space gardener in the current global climate, focusing on what we as landholders can do to maintain both mental and physical stability during uncertain times.

We explored practical ways to buffer ourselves against the challenges we’re told may be coming in the months ahead—from rethinking non‑edible ornamentals and lawn areas by incorporating more edible plants, increasing soil micro‑diversity to reduce pest pressure, and integrating chickens, ducks, and even guinea pigs into the food garden. I’m genuinely excited to keep this momentum going through future talks and workshops, both as a Redlands Edible Garden Trail host and as the Vice‑Chair of the REGT Committee. Sharing learned skills and lived experience with new and established gardeners in my local community is something I care deeply about.

Over the next year, our committee plans to bring a range of small talks and hands‑on workshops to the Redlands, led by our garden hosts. Together, we hope to inspire even more edible gardens and help our future trails continue to grow
